Somisa Perpetual Hlangwana was born in Thapane Village near Tzaneen in Limpopo Province in South Africa. Her birthday is May 30th 2001. She has three sisters but no brothers. She attended Thapane Primary School where she found she liked both reading and writing.
She won three reading competitions while in primary school. She loved literature and started noticing her writing talents when she was doing grade 9, when she wrote poems about herself. In grade 11, she fell in love with a short story titled "Transforming Moments", a story written by a famous South African writer, Qcina Mhlophe. Perpetual fell in love with the way the writer expressed herself and all the figures of speech. It made her jealous of Qcina's English and she wished she had been the author of that story. She thought of writing a novel and came up with "Caught in the Storm", her first book.
Somi felt that she could be a great writer only if she could base her writing on her own experience. She talked her Dad into getting her a tutor and then seduced the poor fellow just so she could know what true love is all about. Needless to say, Dad was not amused when he found that one of his daughters was pregnant.
Editor's note. Only after he agreed to publish this true life story of teenage life and love did Somi reveal that it was all in her imagination. She now claims virginal status, says that the tutor, although an ideal mate, does not exist. It's all “Fake News” to quote the current explanation for lies and deceit. This little liar is working on the sequel where I suppose she'll give birth to quintuplets each of whom will require a medical miracle to survive. I think Somi has a wicked sense of humour. If she's like this at 16, she'll probably be a politician by the time she reaches 21. In any case, if you want to know more about her, look for Somi Novelist on Facebook.
Somi thinks women deserve a special treatment and not only in ordinary relationships but also in marriage. Somi's story involves lot of worrisome things such as teenage pregnancy, the importance of education, how to take care of your loved ones, being disappointed or betrayed by those you love, true friendship, decisions in life, but mostly "love".
Somi dreams that some day she may change the world through her writing. She's writing not only for fun but also to motivate the youth on how to handle difficult situations.
